Tested
Supported devices
WrtXtend runs on OpenWrt 25.12 or later. Every device needs Wi-Fi that can run an 802.11s mesh and several Wi-Fi networks on the same radio.

We tested these ourselves. Pick one if you just want it to work.

Recommended, not tested yet
Recent MediaTek devices with the same Wi-Fi driver (mt76) as the tested ones. They will probably work, but nobody has confirmed it yet.

Planned
QualcommPlanned
Qualcomm devices (ath11k), for example Dynalink DL-WRX36 or Linksys MX4200 v1. Support is planned but not tested. Try one only if you're happy to troubleshoot.
Other devices
Check your device
Run these on OpenWrt. You need mesh point on every radio, and an interface combination with AP and mesh point and a total of 3 or more.
$ iw list | grep -E '^Wiphy|Band [12]:' # Band 1 = 2.4 GHz, Band 2 = 5 GHz $ iw list | grep -E '^Wiphy|\* mesh point$' # * mesh point under every Wiphy $ iw list | grep -A2 'interface combinations' # AP and mesh point, total >= 3 $ grep MemTotal /proc/meminfo # 120000 kB or more
Dual-band recommended · at least 16 MB flash and 128 MB RAM · an OpenWrt 25.12 image
Unsupported
Not supported
Devices without mesh support in their Wi-Fi driver (Broadcom, most Realtek), with too little memory, or without an OpenWrt 25.12 image.

Have a device that isn't listed? Flash it, run the checks and tell us what worked. A good report moves the device to Tested.
- Model, hardware version, OpenWrt release
- Output of iw list
- Did enrollment work? Mesh link and APs up?
- Two or more extra networks
- Still stable after 24 hours
